PROGRAMA SUR

An introduction

The “Programa Sur” is a Translation Support Programme which encourages and strengthens the publishing of Argentine literature works. 

The project submission window for Programa Sur 2022 Edition is open until 30th of September of this same year, planning on supporting 150 works. The selected texts  must be published no later than November 30th 2023.

These works can be of any literary genre, from classic to contemporary Argentine authors. 

Publishers who wish to apply can send their request – along with the required paperwork – to the Argentine Embassy in the UK.

All the submission will be reviewed by a Committee that will recommend approval and decide the amount  of the subsidy up to a maximum equivalent to 3,200 USD.

Since its creation, the Programme has awarded funds for the translation of more than 1,533 literary works into 49 languages across 51 different countries, dedicating a budget of over 4,400,000 USD to promote Argentine literature. 

The list of translated works comprises over 420 Argentine authors. 

The diverse range of countries, languages, age ranges, styles, author backgrounds and genres reaffirms the enormous impact this initiative has had.
