January 15th - Last Monday at the Ambassador’s Official Residence a masterclass was held for wine importers and distributors, co-organised by the Embassy of Argentina and Catena Zapata Winery, through their importer “Bibendum”. Following this, guests were treated to a solo performance of “As Wine flows by” by Laura Catena, which recounts the story of Malbec and that of the Catena Zapata family.
The masterclass was led by Dr Laura Catena, and was attended by 36 Bibendum account executives, supermarket buyers and restaurant representatives. The aim of this talk was to educate participants in order to increase sales of Argentine wines offered by the host winery.
The following wines were tasted:
Catena Appellation Tupungato Chardonnay 2017
Catena Appellation San Carlos Cabernet Franc 2016
Catena La Consulta Appellation Malbec 2016
Catena Appellation Agrelo Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Catena Appellation Vista Flores Malbec 2016
Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Catena Alta Malbec 2015
Following this, and in conjunction with the Embassy’s Cultural Department, a solo performance of "As the Wine flows by" was staged. The piece was directed by Gustavo Dias Ballejo, starred Tina Baston, and traced the story of Malbec wine. This second part of the event was attended by around 70 clients from the importer, representatives from Bibendum and Catena and other guests from the sector.
The event finished with a tasting of wines from the Catena Zapata Winery, including a toast with the Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino, which was awarded full marks.
