The Ambassador gave a presentation to students at UCL

Wednesday 6th February  2019, London.- Yesterday, Ambassador Sersale gave a talk to undergraduate and graduate students and the general public at the prestigious UCL, invited by the Diplomacy in Action Society and the recently formed Argentine Society.

UCL is the third largest university in the United Kingdom for full enrollment, and the largest for graduate enrollment. Founded in 1826 as the University of London, UCL is the third oldest university in England, the first university institution to be established in London and the first to be completely secular and admit students regardless of their religion as well as the first to admit women.

UCL has its main campus in the Bloomsbury area in central London, with several institutes and teaching hospitals elsewhere in central London and in Doha, Qatar. It is organized into 11 constituent faculties, within which there are more than 100 departments, institutes and research centers. In 2018, UCL had around 41500 students and 15100 employees (including around 7100 academic staff and 840 teachers). Its alumni include the 'Fathers´ of India, Kenya and Mauritius, the founders of Ghana, modern Japan and Nigeria, the inventor of the telephone and one of the co-discoverers of the DNA structure , 33 Nobel Prize winners and 3 Fields medalists.

Founded in 2012, the UCL Diplomacy in Action Society aims to introduce students to the diplomatic career and inform them about politics, international relations and current global issues. To achieve this goal, they invite ambassadors, professors and leaders involved in world politics to conferences and round tables.

Along with the Diplomacy in Action Society, the event was organized by the Argentina Society. Founded by postgraduate students in 2017, some of them Chevening scholars, the Argentine Society has strengthened and already has more than 20 Argentine UCL students among its members. Yesterday was the first event organized by this Student Society.

The conference was given before an audience filled by undergraduate and graduate students. The Ambassador gave a short presentation on the South American diplomatic situation, the history of bilateral relations between Argentina and the United Kingdom and the diplomatic career, followed by a Q&A about the South American multilateral institutions, the G20 and the future of our country.
